Olympics2012We’re excited to add two more trophies to our awards shelf, this time for our latest innovation – just-in-time packaging – delivered on our unique and highly flexible TransAct Packager.

At the recent IBC show in Amsterdam, our just-in-time packaging (JITP) solution was named ‘Best Streaming Technology’ in the Connected Content Technology category at the prestigious ConnectedWorld.TV Awards 2012. In association with the IBC Connected World, the ConnectedWorld.TV Awards celebrate the exciting developments in television and video consumption at the intersection of broadcast and broadband. RGB beat off fierce competition from six other shortlisted vendors for the honor.

And that wasn’t all – our TransAct Packager also received the ‘Highly Commended’ Mobile TV Technology accolade at this year’s CSI Awards for its JITP capability, also presented during IBC 2012.

Launched in April of this year, RGB’s JITP technology is a first-of-its-kind capability that enables video service providers to deliver adaptive bitrate video-on-demand (VOD), network digital video recorder (nDVR) and TV Everywhere services without pre-packaging all their video assets in each of the adaptive streaming protocols. An enhancement to RGB’s widely-deployed TransAct Packager solution, JITP enables the simple packaging of programs on-the-fly into the appropriate protocol only when that content is requested by viewers on a specific device, enabling providers to manage their storage and bandwidth costs as their libraries of content available for multiscreen distribution grow.

We believe the success of our JITP solution reflects the industry’s need for robust yet flexible technology which addresses the challenges that come with service expansion in today’s connected world and enables providers to deploy the next stage of multiscreen.

For those of you attending Cable-Tec Expo or TelcoTV next month, please stop by out booth to learn more. In the meantime, you can download our white paper on just-in-time packaging and read this posting on the official IBC blog for more on JITP’s role in an on-demand multiscreen environment.

This year marks RGB Networks’ fourth year at IBC, and what a great year it was! The show was a fantastic success for RGB – not only did we walk away with two highly prestigious accolades – a CSI Award and a ConnectedWorld.TV Award for our Just-In-Time Packager – but with record attendance at the show of over 50,000 video professionals, our stand was absolutely overflowing throughout all five days of the show.

IBC 2012 AwardsWe showcased some of our award-winning multiscreen solutions, including RGB’s eVIA ecosystem with a new encoder and a complete on-demand offering.

IBC 2012 Press CoverageMedia coverage galore of our IBC announcements, and press were lining up round the block to speak to Ramin Farassat, our VP of Marketing and BD.

To wrap up this year’s event, we thought we’d take a look at the show through the eyes of the RGB team. Here are some of our reflections on IBC 2012:

IBC 2012 Denise

Denise Conway
Sales Director, EMEA

“IBC 2012 has been a really great show for us. The word is out in Europe about RGB Networks – we’ve been bombarded with incoming meeting inquiries – the comment we heard throughout the show was ‘people keep telling us to meet with you guys!’”

IBC 2012 Brian

Brian Johnson
Director, Product Marketing

“I found it very interesting how many video service providers we spoke to at the show that still didn’t really understand the challenges and opportunities associated with multiscreen deployments. We’ve been providing multiscreen video delivery solutions, including our VMG, to forward-thinking companies for over two years now, and IBC 2012 has provided us with a great opportunity to further educate providers as they make the necessary transition to multiscreen.”

IBC 2012 Yuval

Yuval Fisher
Chief Technology Officer

“The buzz surrounding RGB’s stand throughout IBC is a clear reflection of the market need for multiscreen solutions. RGB is at the very forefront of pioneering multiscreen technology, and we’re catalyzing a shift in the market – multiscreen is no longer just an experiment for video service providers, and it is quickly becoming ingrained in their business strategies. At IBC, providers were looking to us to help them expand the applications of the service, monetize their content, provide a better service for their customers and ultimately, sustain a profitable business model.”

IBC 2012 Ramin

Ramin Farassat
Vice President, Product Marketing & Business Development

“We received outstanding feedback at this year’s IBC. Prospects were telling us that other companies in our marketplace just aren’t developing products as exciting as ours, and RGB’s leadership in the industry could clearly be felt at the show. The conversations we had at IBC prove that providers know we’re perfectly positioned to facilitate their move beyond multiscreen deployments and to help them get to the next stage of TV Everywhere.”
