RGB NETWORKS ANNOUNCES CABLE INDUSTRY'S HIGHEST DENSITY
SOLUTION
FOR GROOMING, TRANSRATING AND
DIGITAL PROGRAM INSERTION
RGB's Broadcast Network Processor Enables Deployment of Highly Targeted and
Personalized Video Services at Significantly Lower Costs
SAN MATEO, CA – March 29, 2006 – Network video processing leader RGB Networks today announced the release of its new high density Broadcast Network Processor (BNP) for grooming and digital program insertion. The second product based on RGB’s Video Intelligence Architecture™ (VIA), the BNP is designed to enable cable operators to deliver highly targeted and personalized video services. Housed in a one rack-unit platform, the BNP delivers the cable industry’s highest density solution for digital video grooming, statistical multiplexing, transrating and digital program insertion. With the ability to process more than 500 video streams in a single rack-unit, the BNP significantly lowers the cost of delivering advanced digital video services.
With the cable industry facing constant growth in the number of available programming channels and the rapidly rising number of high definition (HD) channels, operators face the challenge of manipulating and managing a growing number of digital MPEG video and audio streams. To meet these video processing demands, operators must deploy scalable and flexible solutions that can match the growth and programming expansion of their networks.
RGB’s Broadcast Network Processor offers the scalability to support current and future network growth, while also providing the built-in flexibility to sustain new applications such as switched digital video and targeted ad insertion. The BNP also reduces the complexity and cost of deploying these services, allowing operators to focus on introducing more personalized, revenue-generating services.
“The Broadcast Network Processor is RGB’s second product based on our unique VIA technology. The power of VIA offers exceptionally high density video processing, making the BNP the only product that meets operators’ network expansion needs while drastically lowering the capital and operational cost of deploying advanced digital video services in cable and IPTV environments,” said Jef Graham, CEO of RGB Networks. “As video networks evolve, the scalability of RGB’s technology allows cable and telco operators to roll out highly targeted, personalized services without incremental equipment costs or upgrades.”
The BNP supports a variety of services and applications, including standard and high definition digital broadcast services, switched digital video (SDV), zoned and targeted ad insertion, program substitution and local channel insertion. The integrated, high-density design of the BNP allows for the concurrent support of multiple ad zones, reducing cost, simplifying manageability and generating new ad revenues for operators.
