RGB NETWORKS SELECTED BY TIME WARNER CABLE FOR NATIONAL DIGITAL SIMULCAST ROLLOUT
Second Largest U.S. Cable Operator Deploying RGB's Simulcast Edge Processor
SAN MATEO, CA – April 10, 2006 – RGB Networks, the leader in network video processing, today announced that Time Warner Cable has selected RGB’s Simulcast Edge Processor (SEP) to perform high-density decoding, modulation and upconversion as part of the Company’s national digital simulcast rollout. The SEP has already been deployed in several live systems throughout the Carolinas, Ohio and New York regions of Time Warner Cable, with further deployments underway in the Texas region.
By deploying a digital simulcast architecture throughout its systems, Time Warner Cable is making a systematic move to all-digital, providing the multi-system operator (MSO) with a stepping stone that allows them to serve both analog and digital customers with high quality video, while significantly reducing capital and operational expenses. RGB’s Simulcast Edge Processor makes the move to all-digital easier by integrating all edge decoding, modulation and upconversion into a one rack unit device.

The RGB Simulcast Edge Processor is the cable industry’s first complete solution for digital simulcast edge decoding applications, providing the capability to simultaneously receive multiple MPEG-2 digital video streams over Internet Protocol (IP), decode the video streams, modulate and up-convert them, and deliver the streams directly to subscribers as NTSC analog video at the edge of the network.
