FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WISI TO DEMONSTRATE RGB NETWORKS AWARD WINNING VIDEO
PROCESSING SOLUTIONS AT ANGA CABLE
San Mateo, California – May 17, 2007 – RGB Networks, the leader in network video processing, today announced that it will be working with German company WISI Communications GmbH & Co. KG (WISI) a pioneer and a European market leader in broadband reception and distribution technology, to demonstrate the many advantages of RGB’s Video Intelligence Architecture™ (VIA) to the European market at ANGA Cable 2007. WISI’s ANGA stand (D2) will include demonstrations of RGB’s Broadcast Network Processor (BNP), Modular Media Converter (MMC) and Universal Scalable Modulator (USM), all based on RGB’s innovative VIA video processing technology. These next-generation products will also be on display at RGB’s own ANGA stand (E14).
RGB’s Video Intelligence Architecture is an innovative design methodology that leverages a core set of sophisticated video processing capabilities that work with Gigabit Ethernet networking and very high speed switching technologies to deliver high-performance, cost-effective processing for digital video, high-definition, on-demand and all-digital applications, all from a single programmable platform. This allows video service providers to leverage existing infrastructure, while building an advanced foundation to meet the needs of the rapidly growing market for personalised video services. VIA overcomes existing technological barriers to deliver the industry’s highest density solutions to dramatically lower the cost of delivering advanced services for today’s digital video environment.
“We are looking forward to showing ANGA visitors how RGB’s solutions can enable Europe’s cable operators to access new revenue streams through the advancement of new architectures and techniques, such as switched digital video and digital program insertion,” said Sarah Hackforth, Vice President , EMEA, RGB Networks. “We are really pleased to be working alongside WISI at ANGA Cable to demonstrate the advantages that our VIA-based solutions bring to the European cable market. We look forward to partnering with WISI, which has built an enviable reputation throughout Europe for technical expertise and customer care.”
Having shipped over 1,500 VIA family products, RGB is building on its market acceptance throughout the Americas to bring its high density video processing solutions to new markets around the world. RGB has already established a presence in the EMEA region, with a sales and support office now open in the United Kingdom and staff operating throughout the region, and is now looking to widen its market presence in Europe through relationships with market leaders such as WISI.
“We recognise a highly competitive environment for high density video processing professional headend technologies and solutions in the European cable markets. RGB Networks has excellent products that fit perfectly with our first class portfolio and that answer many of the technical and business issues facing the cable industry today and we’re excited about having these solutions on our stand at ANGA,” said Axel Sihn, Managing Director for WISI. “Deploying RGB’s VIA-based video intelligent processors enables MSOs and other service providers to create new, personalised, revenue-generating video services that will revolutionise the television industry. We predict there will be great interest in these products at ANGA and beyond and look forward to a successful relationship with RGB.”
RGB has launched the following products based on its VIA architecture for the European cable market:
Broadcast Network Processor (BNP)
The BNP delivers the industry’s highest density digital video processing solution for grooming, statistical multiplexing, transrating, digital program insertion (DPI) and graphic overlays. The advantages of the BNP include:
- Dramatically lowers the cost of delivering digital video services via its advanced processing capabilities
- First product capable of high-density concurrent grooming, statistical multiplexing, transrating, splicing and digital text and graphic overlays
- Transrates video streams with impressively high quality
- Support of multiple ad zones from a single device simplifying operation and management
Modular Media Converter (MMC)
The MMC expedites deployments of advanced video services over IP, simplifies operation and management, and reduces operational and capital costs.
The advantages of the MMC include:
- Facilitates the transition to Gigabit Ethernet networks
- Only product capable of converting up to 24 ports of ASI to Gigabit Ethernet, as well as converting up to eight ports of Gigabit Ethernet inputs to ASI in a one rack unit chassis
- MMC’s high density enables centralised management of all services
Universal Scalable Modulator (USM) – EUROPEAN LAUNCH AT ANGA 2007
The cable industry’s highest density QAM modulation device enables the deployment of advanced digital video services while reducing operation and management costs.
The advantages of the USM include:
- First truly universal QAM modulator supports VOD, switched digital video and broadcast
- One rack unit chassis supports up to six QAM channels per port, for a total of 96 QAM channels in an 8 MHz channel system saving nearly ten times the rack space and power consumed by low density solutions
- Supports the ability to multiplex up to 1280 programmes in one rack unit
- Highly scalable design enables operators to introduce new services with lower capital expenditure and to enjoy a flexible “pay-as-you-grow” model based on the number of QAM channels needed for current digital video service deployments
