‘Innovative Advertising Solution’ by Panel of Experts
SUNNYVALE, CA – May 27, 2008 – RGB Networks, the leader in network video processing, today announced that its flagship product, the Broadcast Network Processor (BNP), has received a Four Diamond rating in Broadband Gear Report’s esteemed 2008 Diamond Technology Reviews for the second consecutive year. The BNP was recognized this year for its new overlay capability and for the innovative advertising applications it enables.
Though local advertising is a proven business for U.S. cable operators – who earned more than $4.7 billion in 2007 according to the analyst firm SNL Kagan – operators are eager to expand this lucrative opportunity. To help accomplish this, RGB has enhanced the BNP with new digital overlay capabilities that allow cable operators to dramatically reduce the cost to localize ads, target for specific geographies and generate more advertising revenues by seamlessly overlaying text, graphics and video directly onto ads in real-time.
“Receiving a Four Diamond rating for the second time shows how highly regarded the BNP is among industry veterans, while also recognizing RGB’s continued commitment to innovative advertising solutions for our cable operator customers,” said Ramin Farassat, Vice President of Product Marketing for RGB Networks. "The digital overlay capabilities of the BNP will help operators maximize their advertising opportunities by delivering targeted and personalized ads, which enable operators to generate substantial new ad revenues.”
"The RGB Networks Broadcast Network Processor with overlay truly impressed the BGR Diamond Technology Reviews’ judges with its ability to overlay text, graphics and video to hundreds of simultaneous real-time ads without requiring decoding," Laura Hamilton, editor-in-chief at BGR, says. "They were particularly impressed that all this happens without using up valuable rack spacing – only 1RU."
RGB’s BNP is the industry’s most advanced digital video processing solution, enabling cable operators and other video service providers to deliver highly targeted and personalized video services. Able to simultaneously process more than 500 video streams in its one rack-unit platform, the BNP is the highest density solution for digital video grooming, statistical multiplexing, transrating, digital program insertion (DPI) and now digital overlays.
Launched in 2005, The Broadband Gear Report’s Diamond Technology Reviews seek to provide an unbiased technology review program within the broadband community. Judges on this year’s panel include executives from Time Warner Cable, Charter and Bresnan.
