NETWORK VIDEO PROCESSING LEADER RGB NETWORKS
TO SERVE GROWING TELCO IPTV MARKET

RGB to Provide High Density Solutions for Telco Video Processing Applications

DALLAS - November 6, 2006 - TelcoTV 2006 - RGB Networks, the leader in network video processing, today announced that the company is entering the market to provide digital video solutions to telecommunications providers. Telco operators are accelerating their rollout of video services to local customers and there is a significant need for products that will give the telcos a competitive edge over their cable and satellite rivals.

As telecom operators launch new video services, they need proven digital video technology that will help them get a jump-start on their video-savvy competition. RGB’s Video Intelligence Architecture™ (VIA) – the flexible technology underlying all RGB products – has already been proven to deliver highly scalable solutions for the cable market, optimizing bandwidth, simplifying network architectures and reducing operational costs. RGB is now bringing these advantages to the telcos, enabling them to deliver advanced, revenue-generating video services to their subscribers, such as high-definition television (HDTV), video-on-demand (VOD) and targeted advertising.

Today’s complex television offerings place high demands on the operators and their equipment. Advanced architectures and codecs are emerging that require scalable video processing solutions with the flexibility to perform many advanced processing functions at very high densities. RGB’s VIA product family is the ideal solution for a variety of telco IPTV video applications, including video switching and grooming, digital ad insertion, and reliable video delivery using advanced video codecs.

“As telcos seek to compete with the incumbent video service providers, they need to differentiate their services with cost-effective, high-resolution video, delivered to a variety of devices, while also continuing to increase their revenues through targeted ad insertion,” said Jef Graham, CEO of RGB Networks. “With the proven power of our Video Intelligence Architecture, RGB’s high density video processing products will provide the advantages that telco operators need to reliably deliver competitive, high quality video services, while simplifying their networks and minimizing operational expenses.”

At TelcoTV, RGB Networks will showcase the following high density digital video solutions for telco video service providers.

RGB’s Broadcast Network Processor (BNP) – Siemens Booth #1101
RGB’s Broadcast Network Processor (BNP) is a high density digital video processing platform capable of processing more than 500 programs in a single rack unit chassis. It features MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 grooming and switching capabilities, as well as high density MPEG-2 ad insertion based on SCTE standards. RGB is involved in the standards committees working on advanced codec ad insertion, and will offer high density MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 ad insertion capability once the standards are complete. For a demonstration of the BNP’s ad insertion capabilities, visit RGB at Siemens’ booth #1001.

RGB’s Simulcast Edge Processor (SEP) – AMT Booth #726/Trilithic Booth #1329
For telco operators who also support an existing cable plant, the Simulcast Edge Processor (SEP) allows them to simplify and expedite their move to all-digital, providing the highest density edge decoding solution for digital simulcast applications. The SEP performs MPEG decoding, NTSC modulation and upconversion of up to 48 channels in a one-rack-unit platform. The SEP also supports Emergency Alert System (EAS) crawl overlays, as well as EAS override, based on the SCTE 18 standard. To see RGB’s SEP, visit Advanced Media Technologies’ booth #726 and Trilithic’s booth #1329.

RGB’s Modular Media Converter (MMC) – AMT Booth #726
RGB’s Modular Media Converter (MMC) is the industry’s highest density ASI-to-Gigabit Ethernet conversion device, allowing operators to covert to up to 24 ASI ports to up to 8 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces. RGB’s MMC supports MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC/H.264. To see the MMC, visit RGB at Advanced Media Technologies’ booth #726.
