RGB Networks to Demonstrate Scalable Solution for Cost-Effective Transition to
Multi-Screen Video Delivery at ANGA 2011

Visitors to See Video Processed and Delivered to TV, iPad, iPhone, Android Devices and
PC Through RGB’s High-Capacity Transcoding Platform

SUNNYVALE, CALIF. – April 21, 2011 – Stand V18 at ANGA Cable – RGB Networks, the leader in high-capacity multi-screen video delivery, will demonstrate how cable operators can use RGB’s innovative solutions to deploy advanced multi-screen video services seamlessly and cost-effectively to TVs, personal computers, tablets and mobile devices. At ANGA Cable, RGB will showcase how its solutions address the key challenges that cable operators are faced with today as they transition to a multi-device video delivery environment. The demonstrations will highlight RGB’s award-winning Video Multiprocessing Gateway (VMG™)—the industry’s only carrier-class platform for multi-screen video delivery—and TransAct Packager—RGB’s flexible adaptive streaming product.

The growing availability of low-cost, high-resolution tablets, mobile devices, PCs, and Internet-connected TVs is driving substantial growth in consumer demand for the availability of video services on any device, over any network connection. As a result, cable operators are facing stiff competition from media, entertainment and telecoms brands, many of who deliver complete integrated service propositions. In order for these cable operators to maintain a competitive edge, it is crucial that their business models enable the delivery of IP-based video services as well as extending services onto other platforms, leveraging their managed high-speed broadband access networks.

ANGA Cable highlights will include the ability of RGB’s scalable, chassis-based solution to deliver the integrated multi-device experience consumers are demanding from cable operators, while saving them substantial rack space, and minimizing management headaches. RGB will also showcase the VMG’s advanced multi-screen ad insertion capabilities, illustrating how operators can seamlessly extend existing advertising strategies to incorporate any type of video-enabled device to effectively monetize video services in a multi-screen environment.

Working in conjunction with the VMG, RGB’s TransAct Packager produces segmented output in Apple HTTP Live Streaming, Microsoft Smooth Streaming and Adobe HTTP Dynamic Streaming formats for delivery to IP-based devices. Through the utilization of this flexible hardware- or software-based solution, video service providers can ensure that their network delivery infrastructures are capable of taking premium video content of all formats – whether from live streams or file sources – and 'packaging' it to content delivery networks (CDN), origin servers, and end-user devices, for large-scale centralized or decentralized deployments. Additionally, the TransAct Packager encrypts content by integrating key exchanges with leading Digital Rights Management (DRM) servers, works seamlessly with firewalls, and effectively manages and compensates for packet drops and temporary bandwidth changes that are common on wireless networks.

“With mobile and tablet video emerging as an integral part of the video experience, cable operators must introduce new delivery and monetisation technologies in order to ensure they are not left behind,” said Nabil Kanaan, Sr. Director, Product Marketing for RGB Networks. “However, this is not without its complications, and infrastructure challenges and cost can often act as barriers to adoption. At ANGA Cable, we’ll demonstrate how RGB Networks’ products allow operators to cost-effectively extend their network capabilities today without overhauling the entire network infrastructure, and scale easily for future expansion as demand increases.”

Executives from RGB Networks will be available on booth V18 throughout ANGA Cable, taking place May 3 - 5, 2011 in Cologne, to answer questions and provide a hands-on demonstration of the unique advantages of RGB’s multi-screen video delivery solution.
