RGB Networks Expands Digital Video Processing Platform Line
with European Launch of Broadcast Network Processor 3xr
Enhanced Product Designed to Meet Needs of European Market
Cologne, Germany – May 4, 2010 – ANGA Cable Stand #B50 – RGB Networks, the leader in network video processing, has announced the extension of its widely-deployed Broadcast Network Processor (BNP) product line, with the introduction of the BNP3xr to the European market. Based on the same innovative video processing technology as RGB’s field-proven BNP2xr and the BNPxr, which have been deployed by operators worldwide, the BNP3xr offers customers support for the international standard, Digital Video Broadcast Conditional Access (DVB-CA), and includes new redundancy features, delivering the highest reliability for the deployment of critical applications.
The BNP3xr utilizes a new, two rack-unit high chassis design that enables it to offer several new features, including:
- Support for DVB-CA SimulCrypt encryption to protect digital cable services
- Dual hot-swappable, redundant power supplies and fan modules to ensure uninterrupted operation in the unlikely event a failure should occur
The BNP3xr is the most comprehensive digital video processing solution in the industry, combining support for the broadest range of applications with unprecedented stream processing density. Supporting grooming, statistical multiplexing, transrating, digital ad and overlay insertion, emergency alert notification, operator messaging and programme substitution, the product can simultaneously process more than 760 MPEG-2 and MPEG-4/H.264 video streams.
The BNP3xr’s unmatched combination of density, advanced features and support for an array of video processing functions provides operators with an ideal solution for the delivery of today’s services, as well as the flexibility for pay-as-you-grow scalability through its license-based expansion model. In addition, the compact, multi-function platform significantly reduces the cost and complexity for video service providers to deploy high-definition (HD) video, advanced advertising and other increasingly sophisticated and critical services.
“RGB Networks is committed to meeting the needs of our customers in all areas of the world,” said Ramin Farassat, Vice President, Product Marketing and Business Development at RGB Networks. “For the European market in particular, the extension of the BNP product line to provide optimum reliability, as well as additional support for the DVB-CA standard, will enable operators to cost effectively add and deploy secure video services to meet growing demand.”
ANGA Cable Demonstration
At ANGA Cable – stand #B50 – in Cologne, Germany May 4-6, RGB will highlight key functionality of the BNP3xr and BNP2xr, including bandwidth-savings with 3:1 HD statistical multiplexing, as well as digital overlays for advertising and messaging applications. Demonstrations of RGB’s multi-award winning Video Multiprocessing Gateway (VMG) and its Dynamic Bandwidth Manager (DBM) products will also be available on stand.
