RGB Networks Captures Two Finalist Nods in Cable and Satellite International’s Product of the Year Awards
Industry Recognition is the Most Recent Accomplishment in an Already Successful Year
SUNNYVALE, CA – September 2, 2008 – RGB Networks, the leader in network video processing, today announced that its Broadcast Network Processor (BNP) and Dynamic Bandwidth Manager (DBM) have both been shortlisted for this year’s Cable and Satellite International magazine’s ‘Product of the Year Awards.’
“Having two of our products chosen as finalists for these influential industry awards is just the latest achievement for RGB, which is having an exceptional year of successes,” said Jef Graham, CEO of RGB Networks. “From significant new customer wins, to our expanding presence with cable operators and telecom carriers around the globe, the company is executing well against its ambitious business plan, and being a finalist for these awards shows that industry watchers recognize the unique benefits of our products.”
Along with the current recognition of the BNP and DBM, RGB has made several notable achievements so far this year, including:
- Deployments of its products by major cable operators worldwide, including eight of the top 10 U.S. MSOs
- Growing sales into the telecom industry
- Product shipments passing 4,000 units to over 120 cable and telco customers in 20 countries
- Winning a coveted NXTComm Eos Award for its Modular Video Processor (MVP), the company’s first product developed specifically for telecom carriers
- Securing $20 million in additional funding to support further growth, sales and marketing support and product development
Cable and Satellite International magazine is a leading trade publication with a worldwide readership. Its influential ‘Product of the Year Awards’ is entering its fourth year with the winners to be announced at the IBC tradeshow in Amsterdam on September 13, 2008. The magazine’s independent panel of judges consists of practicing and former heads of engineering and operations from some of the world’s most important network operators, as well as established industry consultants and senior industry analysts.
RGB’s BNP has been selected as a finalist in the “Best Digital Video Processing Technology” category. The BNP enables service providers to deliver highly targeted and personalized video services. Able to simultaneously process more than 500 video streams in its one rack-unit platform, the BNP is the highest density solution for digital video grooming, statistical multiplexing, transrating, digital program insertion (DPI) and digital overlays.
The company’s DBM is a finalist in the “Best Content-On-Demand Solution” category. Based on RGB’s unique Video Intelligence Architecture™ (VIA), the DBM allows operators to deliver 50 percent more VOD content over their existing networks. This real-time transrating solution optimizes existing bandwidth, eliminating the need for re-architecting, node-splitting or sparing of additional QAMs for future VOD expansion. The DBM dramatically lowers the cost-per-stream to reduce the bandwidth requirements of individual VOD programs, making the DBM’s wide scale deployment exceptionally cost effective.
