RGB Networks Wins TelcoTV Vision Award for ‘Best in Show’
RGB is Recognized for Innovation in TV Everywhere Delivery and Monetization
Sunnyvale, California – November 2, 2012 – RGB Networks, the leading provider of scalable multiscreen IP video delivery solutions, today announced that it was named ‘Best In Show’ in the fifth annual TelcoTV Vision Awards. Winners were announced at TelcoTV, the largest conference and expo focused on the U.S. broadband service provider market, which took place late last week in Las Vegas.
The TelcoTV Vision Awards recognize companies that are leaders in driving innovation in the broadband service provider industry. The awards program includes a wide range of categories and was open to all members of the industry’s ecosystem. Award submissions were reviewed by an independent panel of distinguished judges, comprised of the industry’s leading analysts and executives. RGB’s Just-in-Time Packaging (JITP) solution was a nominee in the ‘Best Innovation in Video Processing’ category. RGB was voted —Best in Show’ by conference attendees.
“Being chosen by TelcoTV attendees as ‘Best in Show’ is proof that the industry recognizes our achievements in TV Everywhere delivery and monetization and particularly the value of our new Just-in-Time Packaging technology,’ said Ramin Farassat, Vice President of Product Marketing and Business Development for RGB Networks. “Telco carriers have already embraced TV Everywhere and utilizing our solutions can expand their deployments, streamline operations and take advantage of targeted advertising and other applications for generating revenue.”
“TelcoTV Vision Award winners are among the industry’s leading video service providers, technology manufactures and equipment vendors,” says Carolyn Herr, Show Director, TelcoTV. “RGB Networks has demonstrated outstanding innovation and leadership with their Just-in-Time Packaging solution, and we congratulate them on winning Best in Show in this year’s awards.”
About Just-in-Time PackagingRGB’s first-of-its-kind just-in-time packaging (JITP) capability enables video service providers (VSP) to deliver adaptive bitrate (ABR) video-on-demand (VOD), network digital video recorder (nDVR) and TV Everywhere services without pre-packaging all their video assets in each of the adaptive streaming protocols. By packaging programs on-the-fly into the appropriate protocol only when requested by viewers on a specific device, JITP enables VSPs to manage their storage and bandwidth costs as their multiscreen libraries grow.
JITP is performed by RGB’s TransAct Packager, which currently supports the Apple HLS, Microsoft Smooth Streaming, Adobe HDS and MPEG DASH ABR protocols.
