RGB NETWORKS AND EGT TEAM FOR BEST-IN-CLASS
TELCO IPTV VIDEO PROCESSING SOLUTION
Integrated Solution Will Offer New Revenue Opportunities for Operators
SAN MATEO, CA and ATLANTA, GA - November 6, 2006 - RGB Networks, the leader in network video processing, and EGT, a leading provider of comprehensive video processing technology for digital networks, today announced that they have teamed together to deliver a best-in-class video processing solution for telecommunications operators offering video services to their subscribers. By integrating EGT’s high-quality video encoders with the advanced grooming, switching and digital program insertion capabilities of RGB’s Broadcast Network Processor (BNP), telco operators will be able to accelerate and cost-effectively deploy new IPTV services, while also increasing their revenue potentials through value-added services such as advertisement insertion.
“The telcos are in the middle of a battle right now with cable and satellite operators and they must deliver high-quality video services to stay in the game—this is where EGT’s unmatched encoding technology comes in,” said Chris Gordon, Sr. Director, Product Management for EGT. “EGT provides telco operators with elegant IPTV video processing solutions with superior picture quality and added functionality that no other encoder can deliver.”
In addition to competing on video quality, telcos have an opportunity to build a revenue center by incorporating targeted advertising into their stable of video offerings. For true targeted delivery, this capability needs to be supported at different points in the network, from video headends and content acquisition points to the edge, and it needs to be carried out on video streams delivered to a variety of devices, including set-top boxes, PCs and mobile phones.
“The delivery of truly targeted advertising is where RGB’s high density video processing solutions play an important role, providing the intelligence that is necessary for this complex processing, while simplifying the network architecture and reducing operational costs for operators,” said Ramin Farassat, Vice President, Product Marketing for RGB Networks. “By integrating proven, best-in-class solutions from EGT and RGB, telco operators can build an end-to-end digital video processing solution, allowing them to deliver high-quality video to subscribers while generating revenue through the delivery of personalized video services.”
RGB and EGT are involved in setting standards for the next generation of personalized, high-quality IPTV video delivery, requiring cost-effective, scalable processing of advanced codecs, and will introduce new products to address the limitations of the current solutions.
